First off, back at end of February we flew off to Barcelona Spain for the Mobile World Congress, an event we had never been to before. It's a world's largest gathering for the mobile industry. They have their own awards show there, called the "Global Mobile Awards" and Blast Monkeys was nominated for the "Best Mobile App for Consumers" award. We ended up losing to Angry Birds, but it was very exciting for us just to be nominated. The congress itself was huge, and there was plenty of booths to explore and people to talk to. Beyond the event itself, we had the oppuntity to explore Barcelona as well, and it was amazing. We got to see lots of cool tourists sights and some stunning architecture and histortic places.
But we didn't have too much time to recover after getting back to the states, as the very next week was the Game Developers Conference (or GDC) in San Fransisco. While it was our first Mobile World Congress, we have been going to the GDC for many years. It is one of our favorite events of the year. Game Developers of all types take over the Moscone Center in San Fransisco. During the day we got to listen to lectures and seminars from all sorts of interesting people in the industry, and then at night we get to eat and party with our Game Developers friends from all over the world we normally don't get a chance to hang out with in person. Between the good times had with friends and the cool and interesting ideas and techiques showcased during the lectures we always end up leaving the GDC very inspired.
We were also completely exhauseted, having just walked all over the Barcelona and then staying up all night roaming the hilly streets of San Fransisco. After those two events, we got a lot of well deserved rest, but not without also working more on Blast Monkeys! We did a lot of behind-the-scenes tweaking we let us release the new in-game Store for Android, which lets you customize Moki in all sort of cool ways. More tweaks are in the works for the NOOK and iOS versions as well. We have a large update planned for the NOOK version to bring it up to date with all the latest levels.
Then at the beginning of the month was CogsCon. The college Angelo and I graduated from, Cogswelll Polytechical College, just started a brand new event called CogsCon. It was kind of a celebration of all things comic and artistic. They had events like game tournaments and they converted a large room of the school to an expo where they had booths ranging from merchants selling anime to game companies showcasing themselves. We had our own booth there showing off how we make Blast Monkeys. We even let people sit down and make their own levels. It was a small event, but a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see how the convention grows in the coming years.
Lastly, we have been hard at work making new versions of Blast Monkeys for other platforms so that even more people will be able to enjoy the game. Along those lines we just released Blast Monkeys Kindle Fire Edition for our Kindle owning fans out there. Download the game from the amazon store and tell us what you think! We have two more new versions in the works as well, so look for more information about those in the upcoming weeks.
Well, that about summerizes what's been going on with us. Keep sending us those comments and emails, we love reading them. If you have sent us something and we haven't replied yet, I'm sorry. We're trying to reply to every message, but we get so many sometimes we get back logged and it takes us a bit of time to reply. Don't let that discourage you though, I really enjoy hearing your guys' thoughts about the game, so please keep it up and let us know what you think!
Thank you all very much for enjoying the game. Have a blast!
